Are you looking for a way to help your tween develop essential life skills in a supportive and engaging environment? Look no further! Our STEP-UPP DBT Skills Programme is tailor-made for tweens and offers a comprehensive emotional and interpersonal development approach.

Programme Benefits

Connect, Learn, and Play

Our programme encourages tweens to connect with their peers, learn new skills, and have fun through play. This foundational step helps create a positive and stimulating environment for personal growth.

Mindfulness - All About Me

Mindfulness is a crucial skill for managing stress and improving overall well-being. Our sessions focus on helping tweens become more aware of their thoughts and feelings, fostering self-awareness and emotional intelligence.

Distress Tolerance - Being Your Own Boss

Life can be challenging, and having the tools to cope with stress is important. Our distress tolerance component teaches tweens how to manage difficult emotions and situations, empowering them to navigate challenges with confidence.

Emotion Regulation - Getting to Know You

Understanding and managing emotions is critical to personal development. Our programme helps tweens identify their feelings and develop strategies to regulate their emotions, leading to better decision-making and emotional stability.

Interpersonal Relationships - Doing It Better Together

Building and maintaining healthy relationships is essential for a happy and fulfilling life. Our programme offers communication, empathy, and conflict resolution guidance to help tweens strengthen their interpersonal skills.

Movement & Dance

We are excited to announce a thrilling collaboration between Glenbrook Practice and Silent Mania where we combine music and dance to our Step-upp programmes for tweens.

Why is this collaboration so significant? The power of movement, especially when accompanied by music, can have a tremendous impact on mental health. Here’s why:

1. Boosts Mood: Engaging in physical activity releases endorphins, also known as “happy hormones,” which can instantly uplift your mood.

2. Reduces Stress: Dancing and moving to music can be a powerful stress reliever, allowing you to channel stress and anxiety into positive energy.

3. Enhances Cognitive Function: Rhythmic activities can improve memory, concentration, and coordination.

4. Social Benefits: Group activities like dancing foster a sense of community, enhance social skills, and help build lasting friendships.

The fine print

DBT skills training neither replaces nor alters the key-working role of other professionals, Psychiatrists and Psychologists, currently seeing clients who are in DBT skills training. DBT skills makes a distinction between the roles of other providers as it is skills based and not psychotherapy. ©Glenbrook Practice (Pty)Ltd 2024
