A little something about us

Jonathan Mitchell

Glenbrook Practice was established by Jonathan in 2012, following his three-year tenure at a clinic where he honed his expertise in family therapy, group therapy, and dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT). Jonathan also played an instrumental role in managing the DBT group. During this time he realised how important the DBT skills were in helping people. After this incredible experience he then went on to attain a BA degree in HEALTH SCIENCES and SOCIAL SERVICES in psychological counselling.  Jonathan also attended Lifeline courses, a personal growth course, and a counselling skills course at Lifeline and had the privilege to volunteer for Lifeline for one year.

Glenbrook Practice’s core focus lies in providing DBT skills training for adolescents, adults, and individuals diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder. Additionally, Jonathan co-facilitates the Parent Support Group, the BPD support group, and three DBT outpatient skills programs.

The philosophy of Glenbrook Practice revolves around the principle of “Growth through awareness.” This principle underscores the significance of self-awareness and insight in fostering personal growth and development. Specifically, within the context of Glenbrook’s practice and clientele, this philosophy embraces the belief that individuals can achieve positive changes and progress by gaining a deeper understanding of themselves, their emotions, thoughts, and behaviours through acquiring new skills. Essentially, the practice’s philosophy reflects a commitment to empowering individuals with the tools and knowledge necessary for self-improvement and growth.
