Welcome to Glenbrook Practice
Lock down does not need to cause a disruption in your therapeutic process.
I have personally moved my practice to a virtual online platform for the time being. I’ve implemented real-time chat and teletherapy to continue working with my clients.
You can still share thoughts and feelings and learn DBT skills. All worksheets will be available online through my Dropbox DBT folder or emailed to you.
I offer the following platforms

Jonathan
Glenbrook Practice offers family and adolescent counselling as well as providing DBT skills training for both adolescents, young adults, adults as well as patients diagnosed with borderline personality disorder.
My work experience both in my private practice and at clinics the last nine years is what solidified my decision to work with young adults, families and private clients.
My passion for psychology is deeply rooted in my interest in philosophy, epistemology, family therapy and the understanding of human empathy. As an extension to my practice I am sincerely privileged to be part of a therapeutic milieu in helping others, while investing in the cultivation of empathy, compassion and a systemic integration of interventions by way of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy.
With nine years’ experience in DBT, working collaboratively with a clinical team, I offer individual dialectical behaviour therapy and follow Dr. Marsha Lineman, Rathus and Miller skills training. Dr. Alec Miller, Dr. Jill Raghu’s, and Dr. Marsha Lineman developed DBT for young adults and adults. This evidence-based approach is the gold standard of treatment.
Testimonials
PreviousAs the resident consultant psychiatrist to the only adolescent in-patient unit in Cape Town, I had the opportunity to work closely with Jonathan from 2008 and continue to do so. He worked with adolescents and their families in both group and individual therapy. Jonathan’s interest in DBT started at this time and he is now one of the few therapists using this treatment modality. Although he works with all ages, his interest is largely in the field of adolescents and young adults.

I have been very impressed by the work that Jonathan does. He works with more than one of my clients and has been able to help them develop excellent skills which they have been able to apply to their daily lives. DBT is a well validated and researched therapeutic modality and it’s my impression that Jonathan is masterful in this form of therapy.
Dr Tamara MareskyChild & Adolescent Psychiatry - MBChB (UCT.SA) (Harvard, USA)
Adolescent depression and anxiety is often associated with the experience of overwhelming emotions felt with enormous intensity. These emotions often drive adolescents to use maladaptive coping mechanisms such as cutting. Jonathan works with these teens in a very pragmatic way, helping them to identify the emotions and match these with appropriate coping mechanisms. In so doing, the emotions are less overwhelming and more adaptive techniques are used. They develop a coping toolbox; for emotional metabolism.

I have witnessed Jonathan in action in DBT groups. Jonathon connects with people without a sense of intrusion. He has the remarkable ability to challenge a person’s thought patterns while maintaining a genuine sense of acceptance and understanding of the person.

Jonathan is a friend and colleague. I have come to know Jonathan as a dedicated family man and counsellor. He is continually looking towards the future and how he can equip himself as a more skilful clinician. His absolute passion for working with and helping young people reach their full potential by providing them with skills by way of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), is an inspiration for those around him. I am proud to work with Jonathan and be associated with the Glenbrook Practice.
